TWELFTH SHIVALIK HOUSE FUNCTION
The Twelfth Shivalik House Function was celebrated with great enthusiasm and vivacity on 26.08.2017. The Chief Guest gracing the function was Ms. SrilekhaV irulkar, Director, M. J. Group of Colleges, Bhilai. Among the other dignitaries present were the Principal, Mr. Jaya Prakash, members of the PTA and a large gathering of parents.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest accompanied by the Welcome Dance. The Welcome Address was given by Mrs. Nandini Ghosh, Senior House Warden of the Shivalik House. The Chief Guest gave away prizes to the meritorious students of the Shivalik House. The House report of the past year’s achievement of the Shivalik House students was read by the House Captains Shriyansh Gupta and Aditi Dewangan.
The Cultural programme based on the theme, ‘The Battle of Life – Conquer from Within’ began with the fairy tale presentation of ‘Ali Baba and Chaalis Chor’ followed by the Konkani Dance performance by the Primary Wing students. The orchestra was a synergized rendition of variegated musical instruments. This was followed by the North Eastern Dance projecting the idea that dancers are messengers of God. The English skit ‘Princess September’ highlighted the fact that ‘Freedom is the Secret to True Happiness.’ ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ was a Hindi Tableau conveying the importance of women. ‘Mook Darshak’ was another Hindi tableau presenting India as a mute spectator to various atrocities, enduring it silently with immeasurable tolerance, pleading the Almighty to give tolerance in a limited measure and more strength to resist indignities. The Western Dance ‘New School Hip Hop’ was a scintillating dance performance by students of the Middle Wing to depict that ‘Dance is the Hidden Language of the Soul.’
The Principal,Mr. Jaya Prakash introduced the Chief Guest and welcomed the dignitaries. In his address he contended that we should not look back at life. Life is a struggle and we should go on fighting till the end. He insisted that it is so easy to say something bad about someone, but leaving it aside, we should go ahead in life fulfilling our inner dreams.
The Chief Guest in her address contended that the students should be like that of the Shivalik mountain that is always firm and determinant. She quoted the example of bamboo plant that remains undeterred in one place in spite of all odds. She added that success and failure go hand in hand and one should not be scared to face the obstacles in life. She emphasized on the fact that career is important in a child’s life but not the end, so live the life fully and never take any negative decisions in life as youth is the future of our nation.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Deepti Agrawal, Junior House Warden of the Shivalik House. The function concluded with the National Anthem. The programme was anchored by Shurooque Farooqui, Noyonika Banik, AsmitaTaouri, Avish Khan, Akshat Jain, Vardhaman Jain, Kajal Jamdare, Muskaan Rekhi and Isha Agrawal.
