The Twelfth Aravalli House Function was celebrated on 29th July, 2017 with great verve and vigour. The Chief Guest gracing the occasion was Dr. Mohan Kumar Gupta, Dean (Infrastructure Development) & Professor & Head (Civil Engineering), Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg. Present on the occasion were the Principal Mr. Jaya Prakash, members of the PTA and a large gathering of parents.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Chief Guest accompanied by the Principal. The Welcome Address was given by Mrs. Lethika D. Nair, Senior House Warden of the Aravalli House. Thereafter, the Chief Guest gave away prizes to the meritorious students of the Aravalli House. The House Report of the past year’s achievements of the Aravalli House students was read by the House Captains Himanshu Agrawal and Mehak Waghela.DSC_0186

DSC_0221The Cultural Programme that ensued was based on the theme ‘ Jashn-E-Bachpan’ – The Celebration of Childhood’ which commenced with a Welcome Song. Next, a tableau ‘Ek Khwab Bachpan Ka’ was presented based on dreams of childhood. This was followed by a Rajasthani Puppet Dance inviting and connecting people to Rajasthan to experience their rich Culture and Heritage. The Orchestra was a musical orchestration of variegated music emanating from household utensils and equipments. This entailed a Hindi Dance Drama ‘ Ek Ashaas Bachpan Ka’ highlighting the plight of neglected children and their transformation with due support to emerge as successful individuals. The English Skit based on Oliver Twist’s ‘David Copperfield’ projected the evil and insidious attitude of society towards an orphan boy who is innocent and good at heart and who wins them all over with goodness. The Korean Fan Dance conveyed the message that ‘Childhood is the most blissful period of ones life.’ Next, the Chhattisgarhi Folk Dance swayed the audience with its scintillating, foot tapping moves depicting the uniqueness of Chhattisgarh. Eventually, the performers of the Western Dance enthralled the audience with the famous hip hop styles of the ‘Jabba Wockeez’. DSC_0229DSC_0389

The Principal Mr. Jaya Prakash introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering and stated that Childhood is the happiest and most interesting and lovable phase of a man’s life. Sorrow never causes any hindrance in ones childhood period besides the fact that pressures never touches one and one never is concerned with constrains of time or temptations of wealth. It is life’s most cherished and memorable phase as well, devoid of stress and turmoil.

The Chief Guest contended that DPS Durg is laid on excellent firm foundation of not only academic deliverance but also with regard to its participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, which is equally important. He opined that participation is more important than winning in any field of activity. He affirmed that teaching and learning process is well established alongwith evaluation and continuous improvement in DPS Durg, thanksDSC_0209.JPG to its family and fraternity. He urged students to take part in more and more co-curricular activities apart from being good in academics not only to be an overall developed personality but also to build an impressive profile for better prospects. He urged parents to spend quality time with their children. He added that he was honoured to be invited by the school for its classy event.


The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Laijy Elizabeth Spencer, Junior House Warden of the Aravalli House. The function concluded with the National Anthem.

The Programme was smartly anchored by Daksha Bhusnur, Ashutosh Chaturvedi, Chetna Singh, Samriddhi Dewangan, Ishika Agrawal, Nutan Biswal, Anmol Sharma, Hera Moin Siddiqui, Drishti Singh and Ashutosh Mishra.
