THIRTEENTH SHIVALIK HOUSE FUNCTION
The 13th Shivalik House Function was celebrated on 7th July 2018 with great verve and mirth. The Chief Guest gracing the function was Professor (Dr.) Shailendra Saraf, Vice Chancellor, Durg University. Present on the occasion were the Principal, Mr. Anupal Sagar, members of the PTA and a large gathering of parents.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Chief Guest accompanied by the Principal. The Welcome Address was given by Mrs. Nandini Ghosh, Senior House Warden of the Shivalik House. Thereafter, the Chief Guest gave away prizes to the meritorious students of the Shivalik House. The House Report of the past year’s achievements of Shivalik House students was read by the House Captain Akshat Jain and House Prefect Kajal Jamdare.
The Cultural Programme that ensued was based on the theme “Green Earth”, which commenced with the Welcome Dance. Next, the Hindi Tableau depicted that the devastation of Earth is either the result of nature’s fury or it is manmade. This entailed “Ghoongro” a Kathak dance by students Falak and Yana Qureshi, national level exponents of Kathak, who have won several prestigious International, National and Jury Awards. ‘International Folk Dance’ by the Primary Wing students was a vibrant extravaganza of dance presentations of various countries. ‘Swar Lehri’ was a classical song rendition by Anushka and Anwesha Sinha, the two budding music prodigies of the school. ‘Harit Vasundhara’ was a Hindi tableau depicting the follies of Man and the curse of nature as a result of his insensitivity.
The ‘Chhattisgarh Dance’ was a scintillating presentation of harvest the state’s festival, bounty and elation. The English Play ‘Blossom and Seven Dwarfs’ was an enactment of morose and dark aspects of life slithering slyly into human lives without their awareness of it. Students also presented a mime on ‘Conversation of Water , Nature and its Elements’. The Western Dance was presented as the best remedy for man’s loneliness and gloominess. ‘Varsha Mangal’ was a Dance Drama by Rabindranath Tagore portraying the rejuvenation of Earth, filling its inhabitants with complete verve and mirth.
The Chief Guest stated that the felt rejuvenated to have witnessed the function. He viewed that academics is an amalgamation of all activities not just studies. One must learn all basics in school for quality life, he added. He highlighted the fact that one must keep updating oneself, consistently, every year. He stressed on the paradigm shift of learning that is Unlearn, Learn and Relearn. He urged students to be job creators and not job seekers. He opined that youth of the nation must come out of their comfort zones, invite & accept challenges and refrain from being introverted as they are the ones contributing to the progress of the nation. He urged the youth to start conserving the Earth while maintaining their self dignity and keep constantly moving ahead, actively.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the Junior House Warden, Ms. Deepti Agrawal. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
The programme was anchored by Isha Agrawal, Veena Gupta, Kajal Jamdare, Marvin Princy, Riddhima Singh and Aryan Thakre.
