The 13th Aravalli House function was celebrated on 30th June, 2018 with great verve and vigour. The Chief Guest gracing the function was Professor (Dr.) Kallol Kumar Ghosh, Director, National Centre for Natural Resources Chairman, Board of Studies, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur. Present on the occasion were Ms. Shuvra Ghosh, the Principal Mr. Anupal Sagar, members of the PTA and a large gathering of parents.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Chief Guest accompanied by the Principal. The Welcome Address was given by Mrs. Lethika D Nair, Senior House Warden of the Aravalli House. Thereafter, the Chief Guest gave away prizes to the meritorious students of the Aravalli House. The House Report of the past year’s achievements of Aravalli House students was read by the House Captains Parth Dewangan and Nidhi Garg.

The Cultural Programme that ensued was based on the theme ‘Music – A Therapy’, which commenced with the Welcome Song. Next, ‘Om Chanting’ was a chanting by the junior students conveying positive vibes with its resonance expected to bring peace. This was followed by ‘Yoga Rhythm’ with the idea that Yoga empowers us to discover happiness and makes the world a happy place to live. The ‘Chhattisgarhi Dance’ presented the Chhattisgarhi culture through Karma Dance. The English play depicted a glimpse of Helen Keller’s struggle highlighting music as a healing factor in her life. The Rajsthani Folk Dance was a presentation of Bhavai an enthralling dance form with vibrant costumes and simple expressions to experience the aura of Rajasthan. The Orchestra was a blend of melody and divine music to lead us into the realm of harmony and highest form of peace. This entailed a scintillating African Folk Dance; a dance form that teaches social etiquettes and values with vibrancy.

The Chief Guest was superlative in his appreciation of the function. He said that it is a combination of excellence in academics and multi talented performance on the part of students. He stated that he was happy to be a part of the function. He further added that he was very impressed, reading the Principal’s message on the school website with regard to the aspect of Scientific outlook and Science education. He urged students to love their subjects and have passion for scientific education. He spoke also about National Institute of Transforming India (NITI). The students of DPS Durg, he contended are an intelligent treasure of the Chhattisgarh State. He also urged students to pay heed to their teachers’ guidance in order to really progress. He added the DPS is already following the tenet of Swami Vivekanand who had said that ‘Education is the Manifestation of Perfection already reached in Man.’ He viewed that to execute intelligent quotient we heed emotional quotient i.e. love for parents,society and the country and the most important thing is to be a good human being.

The vote of thanks was proposed by the Junior House Warden, Ms. Sangeeta Shaji. The function concluded with the National Anthem.

The programme was anchored by Vidhi Martin, Vedant Jain, Aviral, Ishika Jain, Hera Moin Siddiqui, Anwar Ahmed, Manasi Gupta, Khushi Taunk, Parth Dewangan and Nidhi Garg.
