Sixteenth Open Day Celebrations of the Primary Wing of DPS, Durg

The 16th Open Day Celebration of the Primary Wing of Delhi Public School, Durg was held on 12th February, 2019 with great zest and exuberance. The event was graced by Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, Associate Professor and Head of the Psychology Department, St. Thomas Collage, Bhilai.

Among other dignitaries present were Principal Shri Anupal Sagar, members of the PTA, Press, Parents and Students. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Principal Shri Anupal Sagar welcomed the guests. He also introduced the honourable Chief Guest to the gathering. The colourful and vibrant programme based on the theme “DPS Durg…A Blossoming Paradise” began with an invocation to Lord Ganesha.

The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to the meritorious students for their excellent performance in both academics and sports. The Cultural Programme plunged into celebration and festivity with the very first performance “School Chale Hum” – The theme action song, Next in line was Kathak – embracing the Indian culture and traditions. Thereafter, a beautiful dance performance based on Dreams and aspirations of children was presented.

The English Play – Fostering a Child’s love of Nature emphasized on developing a caring attitude towards nature. This was entailed by scintillating folk dance from Assam and foot tapping Western Dance.

A tableau “Celebrating Diversity” depicted the rich and vibrant festivals of India and gave the message of ‘Unity in Diversity’ in the best possible way. It touched every heart and filled everyone present with a sense of national pride.

Last but not the least the Budding Stars – Orchestra – was the musical show, where the junior budding talents of the Primary Wing charmed the audience with their presentation.
Ms. Anjana Jha, Head Mistress of the Primary Wing presented the annual report of the Primary Wing for the session 2017 – 18, highlighting the milestones achieved during the last academic session. 320 students participated in the programme and the parents thoroughly enjoyed the function.

The Chief Guest in her address applauded the efforts of teachers and appreciated the performance of the students. She highlighted the problems faced by today’s parents regarding the inclination of children towards electronic gadgets. She further urged the parents to motivate the children to do revision on a daily basis & gain knowledge and not be just educated.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. U.Sapna Chaudhary, Co-ordinator Primary Wing and the programme culminated with the National Anthem. The programme was well managed by the Activity Incharge Ms. Kirandeep Bhatia and Ms Shraddha Kashyap –I/c Music of the Primary Wing. The anchors of the programme were U.Rushit Chaudhary, Saisha Badal, Shriniket Chakraborthy, Navya Goel, Aaron Saju T., Atharva Thakur, Ayushman Sharma and Yash Randhawa.
